What Is Body Casting?

close up of parent and baby hand

Yes, photographs can capture a moment, but how clearly can you see for example, the actual size, each line, each wrinkle and fold of baby's foot aged 5 weeks? By taking a cast you have a perfect replica of all these things, something to touch, clearly see and cherish - Just that one tiny part of them. We all forget how tiny they are and how cute their hands and feet are. Body casting can keep that memory alive....forever.

Not only can you produce a replica that is totally unique to each individual but it is also an amazing piece of art that can be displayed proudly in the home. Family heirlooms are made of this!

For every occasion in life we have something to offer, important milestones such as birth, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and pregnancy, right through to fun and quirky castings that can make the most personal and fabulous gifts. The Bodycast Studio pride itself on quality and affordability, our kits are easy to do and include all the specialist finishing paints which make all the difference to the finished article.

Bodycasting produces a 3dimensional cast of the body part. The alginate moulding powder makes it easy to first create the initial mould and picks up every impression and print of the body.

The technique is simple. The mould powder is then filled with high quality plaster and this is what forms your final cast.

All our easy to use home casting kits contain everything you need including our bronze finishing paint.

Alginate (moulding agent) picks up the skin impression and will give you an exact 3D replica.

Some kits on the market will only give you the plaster impregnated bandage and not the initial moulding agent, this means that you will only be able to achieve a shaped mould instead of an actual 3D impression cast. All our DIY easy to use bodycasting kits contain the moulding agent (Alginate).

Baby hands and feet casts, Family casts, Adult casts and Pregnant belly casts ........ It's all here!
